Red Cross Women at Normandy Beach
— an image not seen often at all. this is a photo of women arriving, shortly after the men/soldiers did at normandy beach in 1944. these women were part of the red cross efforts which took place shortly after the invasion. yes, we honor those men that stormed the beach that day, but let’s honor these lovely ladies for doing the same—to help!
The purpose of solitude is to bring us home to the center of ourselves with such serenity
that we could lose everything and, in the end lose nothing of the fullness of life at all. –Joan Chittester, OSB
