Breast Cancer Awareness
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month! Join the Phoenix VA Health Care System for our 6th Annual “PINK OUT” event on Friday, October 21, 2016.
Breast cancer is the #2 cause of cancer death in women, but localized breast cancer has a 99% survival rate if detected early. Screenings save lives and VA provides mammograms to all eligible Veterans.

Pink Out Event Agenda
Oct. 21 only: Get your Pink Drink! The Starbucks cart will be serving the Strawberry Crème Frappuccino in support of Breast Cancer Awareness.
9:30 am: Wear your brightest pink and join us at the 7th St. flagpole for our facility “Pink Out” photo.
10:00 am-12:00 pm: Breast Cancer Education Fair in the ACC Main Hallway featuring: Mammography, Women Veterans Program, Nutrition, Fresh Produce Market, Health Promotion & Disease Prevention, Tobacco Cessation, Substance Abuse Treatment, Wigs Plus and more!
10:15 am-11:45 am: Presentation: Your Breast Health – ACC Basement NW Quad
- 10:15 – 10:45: Elizabeth Konti – Overview of Breast Cancer & Modifiable Risk Factors*
- 10:45 – 11:00: Candice Phelps, Breast Imaging Nurse Navigator – Imaging Services within the VA’s Mammography Department
- 11:00-11:20: Vivian R. – Veteran Breast Cancer Survivor shares her personal journey
- 11:20-11:45: Q & A with the Panel

During the month of October, please stop by our “Tree of Hope” in our ACC Hallway to place the name of a loved one who has fought or is fighting breast cancer as a way to honor them.
