In February, Go Red for Women Veterans!
Heart disease is the leading cause of death for women in the United States, and the second leading cause of death (after cancer) among women Veterans who use VA health care.
The VHA Office of Health Equity (OHE) is raising awareness of heart disease disparities among African American women Veterans, who have higher rates of risk factors for heart disease than white women Veterans, during February with our fact sheet. The fact sheet is available at OHE’s website, www.va.gov/healthequity.
